DPM is the first party that signed CEC Code of Conduct
DPM is the first party that signed the Code of Conduct of the Central Election Commission for the election campaign. The next was the PSRM. The representatives of these parties say that it is very important for the election candidates to show a fair-play campaign. They have also urged the others candidates to obey the legal norms and sign the document.
"It is not a life to death fight, this is why each of us should have a normal behavior. We should all have a decent behavior", mentioned Andrian Candu, the President of the Parliament.
At the same time, Candu said that the members of DPM will monitor the other candidates within the elections.
"We will investigate all the candidates, inclusively the DPM ones. If it is necessary, we will sanction them", said Candu.
The next who signed the Code of Conduct were the socialists.
"We consider that this is fair. Everybody should sign it", said Ion Ceban, the PSRM chief in CMC.
The Code of Conduct is a convention concluded between electoral contestants and media representatives on how to conduct and reflect the electoral campaign, which excludes the violation of the dignity and image of electoral contestants.
According to the Electoral Code, competitors must sign this document before they start the election campaign. Those who will not sign this code will not be penalized. There is, however, the risk of being charged by voters, the CEC leadership argues.
"It is more a document that implies the moral obligation to observe the principles laid down in the Electoral Code. But surely on the signing of this document and once again come back to the more important fact of correct application and observance will lead to credibility towards the electoral competitors the electoral race was inscribed", said Alina Russu, CEC president.
PAS-PPDA binomial representatives decided not to go to the Central Electoral Commission to sign the Code of Conduct but sent a letter to the CEC announcing that they were signing the document.
At the same time, the leadership of the National Liberal Party has stated that it will not sign the code, because I do not think all the electoral contestants will respect it. However, those from PNL promise to have a fair behavior in the electoral campaign for the February 24th parliamentary elections.
