February elections: Moldovans settled in Canada will vote in polling station at Embassy in Ottawa
Moldovans settled in Canada will vote in the February 24th elections at polling station set up at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ottawa.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chisinau, the Canadian government informed that the legislation does not allow the opening of polling stations outside diplomatic missions.
Previously, the Moldovan authorities had requested the opening of three polling stations in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto.
According to the Government's decision, 125 polling stations will be opened for Moldovan diaspora, more 25 polling stations than the previous election.
42 stations will be opened in diplomatic missions and consular offices and 83 will be set up in other locations.
About 625 thousand Moldovans from the diaspora are expected to attend the polls for the parliamentary elections and the referendum on February 24.
