Igor Dodon is accused of being involved in bribery schemes after Moscow imposed embargo on Moldova's fruits
New accusations to President of the country. Alexandr Kalinin, the President of Moldovan Diaspora in Russia says that Igor Dodon is involved in bribery schemes on exporting fruits to Russia case. The same source says that he earns money due to the embargo of Moscow authorities on Moldovan products.
According to Kalinin, after Moscow imposed an embargo on fruit in 2014, Igor Dodon managed to re-open the gate to Russia only for some exporters but in exchange for some money.
"He and his Moscow partners, manages to open the Russian market for Moldovan fruit producers, but not for everyone, only for his close relatives or for the economic agents who agree to give him bribes", the Party of Regions' president said.
The President of the Party of Regions also says that Dodon laid the foundation for this scheme in 2015 when negotiations with Russia's partners began. At first, ten Moldovan enterprises close to the head of state have received approval to export goods. Subsequently, their number increased. Schemes on the monopoly of fruit exports functioned with the help of intermediaries who are supporters of PSRM. In their pocket would have reached almost 50 million dollars annually, and some of the money is given to Igor Dodon, Kalinin says.
According to the scheme, intermediaries buy the products from domestic producers at a price, customs pay a very high fee, and then, through trial, it proves that the tariffs were very high and the money is returned to the intermediary company.
"After the import, under Dodon's control, the importers go to court and ask the Russian Customs Service to pay back their taxes. Already after the goods are sold, the money from the state budget of the Russian Federation is reimbursed, which is divided between Dodon and his partners", said Alexandr Kalinin, the president of the Party of Regions.
The President of the Party of Regions hopes that following his statements the Russian authorities will be self-indicating. The spokesman for the presidency said that Kalinin, through his attacks, is only pursuing electoral dividends and will not comment on these accusations.
