DPM claims that Russia is trying to influence the Parliamentary elections from Republic of Moldova
Two days before the Parliamentary elections, the Internal Ministry in Moscow opened a new file in the name of the leader of the ruling party, Vlad Plahotniuc. The reason would have been for crimes committed between 2013 and 2014.
As a result, the Democratic Party of Moldova notified the OSCE observers, the International Republican Institute in the US, the accredited observers in our country, including those from the European Parliament, as well as the embassies accredited in Chisinau in connection with Russia's actions to intimidate, abuse and blackmail the leader of the Democratic Party, Vlad Plahotniuc.
Democrats claim that the purpose of these actions is to influence the outcome of elections, to manipulate public opinion and to support a certain political force to the detriment of another, which is also shared by political analysts in Chisinau.
Democrats also refer to the case of the two Moldovan pilots, former hostages in Afghanistan, who are unjustifiably held in Moscow for PR for a party in Chisinau. DPM informed the international community and the repeated attempts by the Russian special services to restrict the freedom of movement of some democratic leaders through abusive referrals to Interpol.
Democrats believe that all these measures are part of a hybrid war where the DPM leader Vlad Plahotniuc was targeted several times. Special service games in Russia have been defeated by Interpol representatives.
At the end of 2017, Moscow authorities wanted to prosecute Vlad Plahotniuc via Interpol, but the request was denied by the organization.
The Interpol Secretariat described the request as political harassment and urged Member States to ignore the Kremlin's demand for the DPM President.
