Three parties and an electoral bloc will join the next parliament, says the preliminary data of yesterday's polls. According to the Central Electoral Commission, it is the Party of Socialists, the Election Bloc ACUM, the Democratic Party of Moldova and the Şor party.
Party led by Vlad Plahotniuc was massively supported by the people in Nisporeni district, hometown of PDM leader.
Most voters from Straseni, Hincesti, Anenii Noi or Causeni district elected Democratic Party.
8.5% voters chose Sor party, most voters are from Orhei district.
The electoral threshold to join the legislature is 6 percent for parties and social-political organizations and 8 percent for electoral blocs.
Validation of parliamentary elections is not subject to any minimum threshold for citizens' participation in elections.
According to the Electoral Code, in an uninominal constituency, the candidate with the highest number of valid votes is considered elected.
If several candidates have accumulated an equal number of votes, the district electoral council establishes the winner by scrutiny.
Those who wanted to become MPs had the opportunity to compete in both the uninominal constituency and the party list in the national constituency.
If the winning candidate in the uninominal constituency is also elected on the party list in the national constituency, he is deemed to obtain the mandate of the MP only in the uninominal constituency and will not be considered in the mandate on the basis of the party list.
Minutes of the results of parliamentary elections and referendum are due to arrive at the constituency electoral councils at the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) by February 26. Specifically, within 48 hours of closing polling stations.
By March 3, the CEC must approve the minutes on the results of elections and prepare the election report to send to the Constitutional Court.
By March 9, High Court magistrates will have to confirm or deny the legality of the elections and validate the mandates of the new MEPs, unless there are appeals in the courts. Validation of the mandates of the elected people will not take place until the courts have finally settled the appeals.
Constitutional Court must decide the results for the referendum by March 14.
