The first Moldova sportsman to run 250km in Racing The Planet Ultramarathon
Sportsman Iulian Bercu will run 250 kilometers at the Racing Planet ultramarathon, held on March 3rd. The 7-day event will gather 180 participants from 35 countries. This is the first time Moldovan representative has enrolled in.
During competition, Iulian Bercu will run from +20 degrees to -10 degrees.
"It's a new experience which motivates me, seven-day run, a competition where you have all carry all equipment. It will be really difficult competition", said the athlete.
The 250 kilometers are divided into several segments that pass through the mountains.
"In the morning we wake up and run 40 kilometers until night, we sleep at night, the next day we start again. On the third or fourth day, we will have a complicated 80km route, I think it will be around 20 hours of running", said Iulian Bercu.
Participation rules must be strictly observed. Athletes must carry their backpack with 37 mandatory pieces, including medical kit, flashlights, gloves, thick and thin clothes. The organizers only offer water and a place in the tent.
Last autumn, Iulian Bercu ran 170 km in the Mont-Blanc Ultra-Trail race. The athlete completed the ultramarathon in 38 hours and 20 minutes.
