Moldova will exchange information with other GUAM member states on air cargo
The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova is getting closer to exchanging information with the GUAM member states on air freight. The Government has today approved the Protocol signed in Chisinau on 5 October 2018 by the heads of customs authorities of the four Member States.
Under the provisions of the Protocol, it will be enforceable as soon as it is approved by the governments of all four Member States.
By concluding this document, the parties intend to prevent and combat more efficiently the possible customs frauds associated with air freight traffic, thus protecting the economic interests of the represented countries.
At the same time, the need to increase the level of anti-fraud interaction is also determined by the continued growth of trade between these countries.
The statistical data for last year show a dynamic of the trade relations between the Republic of Moldova and the partner states of GUAM. Thus, only in Ukraine, which is one of the main trading partners of our country, were exported goods amounting to 166.7 million dollars, 11% more than in 2017. Imports from this country increased by 21 %.
A more significant increase in imports is recorded for Azerbaijan. The value of imported goods from this country has increased 3 times.
The figures are also rising in the trade relationship with Georgia. In 2018, imports from this country grew by 23% and exports to Georgian markets increased by 15%.
The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM is a regional cooperation structure of Georgia, Ukraine, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova.
