Authorities note a periodic dazzle of ground pilots with laser devices in the nearby of Chisinau International Airport.
Nearly 40 such cases have been recorded since the beginning of the last year. The aircraft crews were forced to be guided by air traffic controllers on take-off or landing. The authorities say that in most cases, culprits are children using laser toys.
These devices cost around three hundred lei and can be ordered online or even more simply bought from the market. The range of such a laser can be up to eight kilometers.
"The biggest danger for aircrafts are the localities around Chisinau and Chisinau airport. Usually there children see the aircraft are playing." There were cases when these children were found because in most cases there are children who can not figure out the risk this thing has", said AAC Flight Safety Officer Dan Stratan.
To empower children and their parents, Civil Aeronautical Authority employees have proposed tightening sanctions, which is a tenfold increase in the fine.
"We went out with a legislative initiative to tighten these punishments, for example, in other countries there is also 25 years of imprisonment for this, so it's very serious, in us, until it's about 900 lei fine for that",said AAC Flight Safety Officer Dan Stratan.
The procedure for this was already started by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and in the future the fine could increase up to nine thousand lei.
