How does a Moldovan family traditionally celebrate Easter?
"Christian is risen", this phrase has been spoken out loud in almost every Moldovan family on Sunday. With traditional dishes, Easter wishes, Feodora and Mihai are celebrating Easter along with children and grandchildren with holiness.
At dawn, after attending the religious service, everyone goes home, carefully holding their candle. On Easter morning we wash our faces with water from a bowl, into which we put a red egg and a coin. It is said that if you wash your face with this water, you will be healthy and beautiful – just like an Easter egg.
"Red egg means everything will be lighted. Money means the wealth during the year. White egg means pureness".
Then everybody gathered at table full of traditional dishes.
"Christian is risen! Indeed, He is Risen!"
"Easter is a holiday for reunion. Everybody from all over the world are back home on this occasion.", said daughter Aliona Vlas.
According to traditions, after that Vlas spouses with children and grandchildren will visit their relatives to greet and wish them.
"Christian is risen! Indeed, He is Risen!"
