The church bell announce the most important events of a community. Andrei Dohotaru sculptor made a lot of bells for many churches from Moldova. He says it takes a couple of months to finish a bell.
Andrei Dohotaru craftsman works in this field for 20 years. The experience that he gained along these years helps him a lot. He started three years ago.
"Last summer I made three bells weighting 30 kilos each", said Andrei Dohotaru sculptor.
Gun metal, wax-this is the composition of a bell. After it is poured into a shape, it should cool for a couple of days. Then, it is polished and decorated. At the end, the master checks on the quality of the sound. The guarantee term for a bell is 100 yeaars.
Among the 100 bells that he made, the majority are for monasteries and churches.
"You can't make a bell if you don't believe in God. It is not enough to go to church, you should also believe in God", said Andrei Dohotaru.
He made a series of bells for Dobrogea Veche church from Sangerei district.
