Free dermatoscopy offered for Moldovan people in Dermatology and Communicable Diseases Hospital
1135 patients were detected with skin cancer in 2018, making it in top three common oncological diseases in Moldova. This cancer can be prevented and cured if it's diagnosed in time, according to doctors who are offering people free dermatoscopy (examination of skin lesions with a dermatoscope) in Dermatology and Communicable Diseases Hospital.
Olesea Vizitiu, 37, came for the fist time to check her suspected moles. She said she had longed to visit the doctor.
"I heard about this free consultation this week. I wished to consult the doctors but always held it off. I'm happy to come today", said Olesea Vizitiu, a resident from Chisinau.
Women have a higher risk of developing this cancer than men, say specialists.
"They may be affected by cosmetics, skin wash if things are done improperly", said Victor Ciuprecă, Head of skin tumor and melanoma sector in Oncological Institution.
Experts recommend people protect skin under sunshine.
"Not only with sun cream but also clothes, sun glasses. The longer our skins are exposed, the higher risk of cancer we can get", said Elena Ursu, medic.
Around 7000 Moldovan people are said to face risk of skin cancer due to moles.
