Remittances sent Moldovans home decreased 8.5% in 2nd quarter
The remittances sent home by Moldovan migrants reached US $ 313.47 million in the second quarter of this year, down 8.5% compared to same period last year, announces the National Bank.
Accordingly, fluctuations in the exchange rate of the original currencies against the US dollar contributed 3.4 % to the decrease in transfers. Eliminating the effect of the exchange rate by recalculating the amounts during the respective period last year, the real decrease of the transfers constituted 5.1% .
Transfers from the EU registered 46.4% , up 6.4% compared to the second quarter of 2018.
Transfers from CIS returned 22.7% , down 6.5% compared to the second quarter of 2018.
Transfers from other states accounted for 30.9% in the second quarter of 2019 and 30.8% in the second quarter of 2018.
In the second quarter, 2019 and 2018, the share of transfers from Israel and the US constituted 84.1% and 83.7% respectively of the total on other states.
