Local authorities implement harsher measures as coronavirus spreads
Moldovan local administrations have taken wide-ranging measures to contain the coronavirus spread including disinfecting public places (streets, sidewalks, playgrounds and courtyards) and informing people.
Two large companies in Cahul have been suspended until March 31, according to the Exceptional Situation Commission in the locality. These companies do not manufacture food or goods of strict necessity while the epidemiological situation can get out of control.
"People return from overseas should self-quarantine for 14 days. Call 112 if you cough and have a fever", meanwhile, this message has been put across the city of Soroca. It's one of the vital measures the authorities have adopted to combat the new type of coronavirus.
Renato Usatîi, the mayor of Balti, also isolated himself after returning from overseas.
The measure of cleaning and disinfecting public places is indispensable to prevent the virus outbreak from spreading. Lots of cities are applying this measure such as Balti, Orhei, Ceadîr-Lunga, Soroca, Hînceşti,..
Suspending public transports in the city is apparently the strictest measure taken.
"I don't know why it happened. There is no transports running in the city or anywhere. I think I will hitchhike to get out of here, to get home", said a Moldovan person who got stuck due to the city shutdown.
