A 72-year-old woman from south Moldova was beaten to death by her grandson.

According to the prosecution, the man visited the elderly woman last January and murdered her after a quarrel.

Then the 27-year-old man buried the corpse in snow. A relative discovered it and told the police.

The grandson recognized himself as guilty. He was earlier recorded as a patient of a psychiatrist.

A lower court sentenced him to 30 years of prison and fined him 50,000 lei to be paid to the victim’s successor.
