56 cases of measles have been confirmed
More and more people have measles symptoms. The Ministry of Health announced that the cases of measles raised from 86 to 113 during a day. At the same time, the number of ill patients have reached 56. The majority of the cases were registered in Taraclia, Ceadir-Lunga, Cahul and Nisporeni. Pavel Filip asked for sanctions for the employees of the ANSP and the representatives of the local authorities who will be found guilty that they didn't take measures in time.
"We don't mean to sanction or punish anybody, for me it is very important to solve the problem. But, of course, after the investigation we will establish if anybody didn't fulfill their responsibilities rightly", said Pavel Filip.
In the south of the country they took urgent measures. None of the children from Gagauzia will go to school on September 1, if they won't present the medical certificate that they did the vaccine. The decision was made within the commission for exceptional situations, that took place in Comrat.
The local authorities say that the situation is grave and the representatives of the Ministry of Health admit that Red Warning for Measles can be announced in Ceadir-Lunga. Thus, a group formed of a doctor, a representative of the City Hall and a policeman will go to check if the children were vaccinated.
"We will talk with them and convince them to take preventive measures", said Vadim Ceban, the deputy head of Gagauzia.
Children who have not been vaccinated will not be admitted to studies to prevent the spread of the virus.
"Analyzing the situation in the country and installing the emergency orange code, we decided that no children should be admitted to school without a certificate", said Ceadir-Lunga district president, Valentin Cara.
In view of the worrying situation, the representatives of the Ministry of Health urge people to immunize their children and make sure the vaccine is harmless.
"We are talking about the orange code at national level, not at a regional level here in Gagauzia, because here we are already in another code because we have more than five diseases per million population. We have a vaccination around 75 per cent in the region", said Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, Aliona Serbulenco.
For minors who missed vaccination at one of the three stages, one year, seven or 15 years, an individual immunization plan will be developed. The vaccine is free of charge. The state pays 45 lei for a vaccine, while the cost of measles treatment reaches 7000 lei. We recall that the outbreak broke into an unauthorized camp in Ungheni. The virus was detected to a child who had recently returned from Ukraine. The police opened a criminal case.
