Active young people awarded trophies in Volunteers Gala
The most active volunteers in Moldova were awarded a prize in a gala. In total, 23 people and associations were mentioned. The winners were given the trophies and money.
Dumitru Stoica from Floreşti district was awarded the title of the best volunteer, because this year he was involved in more than 150 actions.
"We were the ones who brought the debates to the village, we did activities dedicated to young people first of all, for children with disabilities. This prize really inspires us because this prize is not given every day," said volunteer Dumitru Stoica.
A young man from the Virginia State of America was also awarded the most active international volunteer. He has helped people in Moldova for two years.
"I can say honestly that I am glad to arrive here in Moldova. My main project is actually at school, I studied public health and I am a health education teacher," said volunteer Clayborne Cook.
Volunteers say they do not hesitate to dedicate their time to help people in need, and this activity only brings them pleasure.
"Volunteering is a lifestyle in the end, we learn to love volunteering for people, for experiences, for everything we can offer and get in return," said volunteer Andreea Bolea.
The Volunteer Festival is organized to encourage and promote community work.
"I am happy to witness here and meet the most active volunteers in the Republic of Moldova, to send them a message of gratitude for their participation in the life of society and to encourage them to go ahead with their activities," said the Minister of Education, Culture and Research , Monica Babuc.
"Volunteering as a phenomenon for the Republic of Moldova is one of the pillars along with the governmental and business institutions in the Republic of Moldova", organizer of the festival, Liviu Moraru said.
The festival reached its 15th edition.
