A growing number of children diagnosed with diabetes has raised the alarm in Moldova in the past years.
According to the Ministry of Health, nearly 50 cases were registered five years ago while over 70 cases have been recorded in the first six months of 2019.
Both genetic and ecologic factors play an important role in this regard. Early signs and symptoms of diabetes can include frequent urination, increased thirst, feeling tired and hungry, vision problems, slow wound healing, and yeast infections.
Children are provided with insulin, according to the national diabetes prevention and prevention program.
Over 110 000 people are diagnosed with diabetes in Moldova, almost 17 000 are insulin dependent. Last year alone, 10 thousand people were registered.
