Alleyway from Ungheni town turned into sculpture workshop

An alley from the central park in the town of Ungheni turned into a sculpture workshop. 17 artists from five countries participate in the camp dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union.
Malin Malinov is from Bulgaria and came for the first time in Moldova. He found out about the sculpture camp on the internet.
"I like the atmosphere here, that my friends from other countries are here, I have been to the symposiums in other countries, and here I have met with friends with whom I was in Cyprus, China, Iran. unification",said Bulgarian sculptor, Malin Malinov.
An artist from Bucharest also attended the event. Nicolae Popa carved a feast for communion, a symbol of the Union.
"It is a year totally and entirely special to me as a man, first of all." I have an extraordinary chance, God has given me the opportunity to live these moments, namely Centenary, in maturity. this idea of union",said Romanian sculptor Nicolae Popa.
Paraschiva Popa-Donoi is the only woman in the group of sculptors. She is from Telenesti district, but she is living in Ireland. Sculptors work this year with travertine, a harder stone. So the challenge is bigger.
"The boys who are with me encourage me and this encouragement raises my immunity and that's why, even with a very heavy flex in my hand, I get caught", said the sculptor settled in Ireland, Paraschiva Popa-Donoi.
The sculpture camp is already at the seventh edition. The event is supported by the City Hall of Ungheni and some of the expenses are covered by a grant from the Cluj-Napoca City Hall.
"The total budget voted by the Ungheni Municipal Council amounts to 550,000 lei. There were 64 tons of stone, so the sculptors can choose the stone to realize the idea they have", said the mayor of Ungheni, Alexandru Ambros.
"Very good, beautiful. Our city is a special one with these beautiful sculptures"
"If, frankly, every child has fantasy. When I go with my child or with the cousins, everyone exposes their opinion and I like them."
In the other six editions of the sculpture camp, another 63 statues were created, all in the park in the city.
