Ambassador Tatiana Parvu had a meeting with President of International Criminal Court
The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Kingdom of Low Countries, Tatiana Parvu, met with the President of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Chile Eboe-Osuji and the Court Clerk, Peter Lewis.
During the meeting with the President of the Court, an exchange of views was held on the ICC's work and how States Parties could support the Court in fulfilling its mandate. Ambassador Tatiana Parvu mentioned the importance of the universalisation of the IIC Rome Statute.
In turn, Chile Eboe-Osuji spoke about the challenges facing the Court, including through efforts to promote the independence of the justice process, highlighting the indispensability of ensuring adequate budgetary support.
The Ambassador reiterated the support of the Moldovan authorities and the importance he attaches to the activities of the High Court. In this context, the contribution of the Ministry of Justice and the General Prosecutor's Office as a national body responsible for implementing the provisions of the Rome Statute was relevant. The President of the CPI appreciated the availability of the Minister of Justice, Victoria Iftodi, to attend the high level event to be held under the aegis of the Tbilisi institution at the end of October 2018.
During the discussion with ICC recorder Peter Lewis, some aspects of the Court's work were highlighted. Also also discussed the geographical representation of the employees of the Grefa, including the Republic of Moldova.
Republic of Moldova signed the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in September 2000 and ratified it in September 2010. The treaty came into force in our country on January 1, 2011.
