The West must support Moldova in combating Russian aggression. This opinion was expressed by American Congressman Markwayne Mullin in an article in the prestigious electronic publication "The Hill".

According to the Republican MP, Moldova has embraced Western ideals, but the government in Chisinau needs help to get rid of Russia's influence.

Mullin believes that Moscow offers economic and military support to the separatist regime in Tiraspol to destabilize the region and prevent Chisinau from joining Western values. In his opinion, the most recent example is the registration of a so-called "official representation" of Transnistria in Moscow, which demonstrates that Russia does not respect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, the congressman says that the involvement of the Kremlin in the Democratic process in Chisinau grew with the coming of the February 24th parliamentary elections.  According to him, Russian agents openly spread misinformation and propaganda through Moscow-funded nongovernmental organizations. Mullin states that they control most media content, manipulate social networks and support the so-called pro-European opposition.

Last but not least, the US MP welcomes the reforms implemented by the Chisinau Government, including the banking sector, which was destroyed through Russia-controlled channels. Markwayne Mullin is a congressman from Oklahoma State.
