Andrian Candu met with OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President George Tsereteli
The conduct of parliamentary election on February 24, 2019 was tabled by Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker and George Tsereteli, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Andrian Candu referred to the developments in the country during the pre-electoral period and to the efforts of the authorities aimed at ensuring the conduct of a fair, well-organized electoral process, according to international standards.
The President of Parliament said that all the necessary measures were taken to ensure a free, fair, balanced, secure, fair election, so that the elections reflect the will of the people of the Republic of Moldova.
"For authorities, the most important is the elections are to be recognized as free and fair nationally and internationally," said Andrian Candu.
In return, George Tsereteli stressed that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is with our country, following the evolution to provide it with the necessary support and encourages the authorities to ensure the conduct of an electoral process according to democratic standards.
The OSCE / ODIHR will have an election observation mission in the Republic of Moldova, which will assess the electoral ballot in terms of respecting the commitments made by the Republic of Moldova and the international standards for the conduct of democratic elections.
During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on the developments in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and on the Holocaust Victims Remembrance, scheduled for January 29, 2019.
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly president George Tsereteli is conducting a documentary visit to the Republic of Moldova from January 20-23, 2019. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is made up of 323 parliamentarians, representatives of the legislatures in 57 countries.
