Andrian Candu: Russia's Involvement in Internal Affairs of Moldova and Ukraine is more obvious because of elections
Russia's involvement in the internal affairs of Moldova and Ukraine is all the more evident with the near-elections, which will take place early next year in the two countries. The statement was made by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu on a TV show in the United States.
The head of the legislature listed five methods that Moscow uses to destabilize the situation in our country. These include cyber attacks and financial support for Moldovan proletarian parties.
"One of Russia's weapons is the media, through which Moscow makes propaganda." Another method used is the energy sector, because Moldova is a 100% Russian-dependent country. is not controlled by Chisinau. I refer to the Transnistrian region, a busy territory where Russian troops are stationed", said Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker.
Speaking at the "ClearCut" broadcast on the i24 News television channel, Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker, said that Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia need to join forces and collaborate intensively to meet these challenges. Equally important is the support these three countries have from the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance.
"It is obvious that the United States must remain involved in the region. If we are to talk about the support we are expecting from the US, we want to create a new energy infrastructure and find solutions to deal with hybrid threats", said Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker.
On the threats coming from Russia, Andrian Candu spoke with US senators and congressmen. The members of the Congress were concerned about Moscow's involvement in Moldova's internal affairs.
In this context, Senator John Barrasso, a member of the External Relations Committee and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, pledged to promote the resolution in support of Moldova registered in the US Senate.
At the same time, Congressman Adam Kinzinger, a member of the Foreign Policy Commission and the House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce Committee, appreciated the deepening of Moldovan-American relations and assured that he supported intensified cooperation on strategic areas. During the talks, the President of the Parliament invited the members of the US Congress to monitor the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova in order to convince them of the fairness of the electoral process. Andrian Candu's visit to Washington will end on December 8th.
