Andrian Candu: Subject of Dmitri Rogozin, persona non grata, is outdated
The Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister and other members of the Government did not attend the meeting of the Supreme Security Council convened by Igor Dodon. In a press briefing, the head of the Legislature, Andrian Candu, announced that the topics on the agenda of today's meeting are exclusively within the competence of the executive, not of the head of state.
Andrian Candu also said that the government did not want the meetings of the Supreme Security Council to become a geopolitical struggle.
The head of the legislature said that the subject of Dmitri Rogozin, persona non grata, is outdated.
"There are several subjects on the agenda of today's council, which we consider whether are within the competence of the council as well as President Dodon. One of the topics we consider does not have to be discussed at this level is the Government's decision to declare the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitri Rogozin as a non-grata person,"said Andrian Candu.
While recognizing that no any foreign people have the rights to insult our citizens, President Igor Dodon insists, however, that the Russian Deputy Prime Minister should not be declared undesirable on the territory of Moldova.
"The Foreign Ministry had to come to the Supreme Security Council to inform such initiative. It is not about the personality of the respective politician, this is Rogozin, the Deputy Prime Minister of a country that is important to us. He's special representative of the Russian Federation for Transnistria, "said President Igor Dodon.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin was declared persona non grata earlier this month.
The decision was taken at the Government meeting on the proposal of the Foreign Minister. According to Andrei Galbur, the Russian official had lately made several defamatory statements against the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
