The real nature of the Nord Stream 2 project is far from being economic: this is a political initiative by [Vladimir] Putin aimed at destabilising Europe and depressing European countries, informs emerging-europe.com, after quoting Andriy Parubiy, chairman of the Ukrainian parliament.

Andrian Candu, the President of Moldovan Parliament also commented on this situation:

"Last week, within the meeting with my Ukraine colleague, Andriy Parubiy, at the inter-parliamentary conference, I signed an open letter addressed to the leaders of the EU Parliaments regarding our doubts towards NordStream2 pipeline."

Nord Stream 2 is a project fully funded by Russian gas giant Gazprom and represents the construction of a gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea to Germany. It will provide Europe with 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
