The prosecutor's office became aware, on the basis of materials recently published in the press, that the local public administration allocated 2.2 million lei for the repair of kindergarten no. 50 from Râşcani district of Chisinau, aiming at creating the necessary conditions for a school for children with disabilities, while the non-governmental organization, located in the kindergarten, refuses to vacate it on the basis of a contract concluded with the City Hall in 2001.
In order to verify all the circumstances of the case, the Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal proceeding, the investigations revealing that, although on January 3 2012 the term of the lease contract had expired, the Capital City Hall has done nothing so far to free the space illegally occupied by the "Echo of Chernobyl" Foundation.
As a result of the intervention, the local public administration claimed rights on the building earlier this week, providing security of the respective premises, and the Foundation was given a term to pick up its property.
Therefore, as a result of serious deviations, Chisinau Prosecutor's Office initiated a criminal case for negligence in the service.
In the investigative process, it was also established that in 1997 the "Echo of Chernobyl" Foundation also received from the City Hall a non-residential space with a total area of 175 m.p. on Florilor Street in Chisinau to house its office.
Five years later, the Foundation's president privatised the room and donated it to his son in 2010.
