Apiculturist from Ialoveni exported nearly 500 tonnes of honey to EU, due to CEP II
Honey from Moldova is gaining popularity abroad. One of the biggest Moldovan exporter is Nicanor Negru from Costești, Ialoveni. The manufacturer sold last year nearly 500 tonnes of honey to European Union. The man received a grant worth 200 000 lei within a project of World Bank, the money being used to promote the produce.
Nicanor Negru started his business in 2014. The honey collected from 300 apiculturists was exported to Poland, Romania and Germany.
"We managed to implement and complete multiple activities, most being on promoting the produce, creating websites, logo, brandbook and design services" Nicanor Negru explained.
The apiculturist was visited by Minister of Economy and representatives of World Bank in Moldova.
"We concentrated on quality and research. The impact also affects other manufacturers, as they need to adjust to the market's requirments" Minister Chiril Gaburici said.
Second Competitiveness Enhancement Project (CEP II) states that beneficiaries can use 30% of the grant of 200 000 lei to purchase equipment.
"Spending part of the grant on equipment is a key element for economic agents to wish gain those resources" director of CEP II, Aureliu Casian said.
In Moldova there are 140 beneficiaries that will gain grants within the Competitiveness Enhancement Project.
