The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment recommends farmers to prepare their agricultural technique and to start mass harvesting of sunflower crops in a week. The recommendations were presented at a ministerial meeting at a working meeting.

"Seeds from the central and southern districts are more uniform than the north, where they are higher and higher, and given that more rainfall and soils are better in June-July. The seed and plant moisture is high, but it should be taken every 2-3 days. The plants have grown three weeks earlier than the usual term, of which we have to prepare the agricultural technique for the beginning of the mass harvest, over a week in the central and southern districts and over 10-14 days in the districts of the north of the republic " said Marin Grama, senior consultant at the ministry.

At the same time, during the discussions, the ministry specialists mentioned that, in order to ensure a uniform co-existence, it is recommended to desert the sunflower massifs. According to the information provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, 362.2 thousand hectares of sunflower were sown in the country this year, which is 20.7 thousand ha less than in 2017, but by 32 thousand ha more than the average of the last 5 years.

However, the average yield per hectare will be higher compared to 2017, when the harvest was 2.1 tonnes/ha. Best indicators are recorded in northern districts.

With regard to maize harvesting, specialists believe the seed condition is satisfactory, the fruit is formed, and any rainfall will not affect the sowing. Thus, according to forecasts, in the current year the average harvest at ha will be higher compared to last year, when it constituted 3.7 tons per hectare.

"The leaves dry, but the moisture content of corn seeds is high and harvesting can begin later this year as usual. Agricultural technology must be prepared for the beginning of the harvest in late September in the central and southern districts, and in the districts of the northern part of the republic - at the beginning of October", said Marin Grama, senior consultant at the ministry.
