Baby rooms in hospitals - luxury that Moldova can't afford
The mothers of the newborn should go to the hospital at least once a month. But, the medical institutions don't fit the required conditions. In a few hospitals there is not a special place for the parents to change the diapers.
Among the mothers we found Irina Lencautan who went to the No.3 hospital with her baby.
"I was surprised that when I asked the doctors about a special room for the babies, they said they don't have such a room", said irina Lencautan, mother.
The woman wanted to go to an emergency room, but all these were closed for sanitation works. As a result, a doctor allowed her to enter his office.
"We change the diapers in the car."
The administration says that they are not obliged by law to create such a space for the patients.
"Did you find this rule in the regulation of the Health Minister?"
The emergency rooms are a good alternative for such cases.
For some institutions, the baby's room is a luxury.
"We allow the parents to dress the child in the pediatrics room."
Such a space we found in the No.1 hospital of the Capital. But, this is filled by dirt.
"We try to keep it clean", said Veronica Grosu, the director of No.1 hospital from the Capital.
"Honestly, we don't use it very often, because it is not clean and it is cold in here."
The representatives of Chisinau Health Direction don't think that the lack of baby's room is a problem.
In the European countries, the baby's rooms have special equipment and even microwaves.
