Back in USSR. PSRM request to introduce patronymic in IDs
Back to the USSR for the sake of the Transnistrians. The PSRM has registered in Parliament a bill that provides in identity documents not only the name and surname, but also the patronymic of the persons.
The authors of the initiative believe that in this way there will be a rapprochement between citizens on both sides of the Dniester, as this Soviet practice is widely applied in the separatist region.
"Over the course of a year, a year and a half were more addresses from the citizens, I can not say that they are only representatives of some ethnic groups, this is a small step to allow and normalize relations for reintegration" said Vasile Bolea, deputy PSRM.
Representatives of the Public Service Agency, issuing identity papers, consider the change to be inappropriate because ...
"Taking into account the ethnic diversity of the Republic of Moldova, not all ethnicities, according to their names, the patronymic is used, we consider inappropriate the introduction of the patronymic," said Svetlana Rotaru, head of department at the Agency Services public.
Even ordinary people do not seem excited about the idea, but there are some who support it:
"It is a Russian tradition, it is respect for the past, I think this is right."
"I did not face this question, but I think it would be natural to know where we come from and from whom."
"I think it is not necessary, it would be better to deal with the peasants from the country"
"My family and I are against, because it means headaches in addition, we will have to change many documents."
Philology specialists claim that the use of patronymics is not specific to the Romanian language.
"For Romanian language there is no such tradition, the patronymic, as it is in Russian, is a form derived from a man's first name, as a rule, and is formed with the help of some" -vehicles "," -evices "enough a name for a man, as it has so far been no patronymic, is the father's first name, "said IRINA CONDREA, PhD in Philology.
The authors of the bill have not yet calculated how much it will cost to change the documents if the initiative passes through Parliament.
