2018 was a good year for Moldovan banks. The banking system recorded a profit of more than 1.6 billion lei, seven per cent more than in 2017. The data of the NBM show that Moldova Agroindbank and Moldindconbank generated 60% of the total earnings.
Moldova Agroindbank received over 530 million lei last year, with over 16 percent more than in 2017. At the same time, Moldindconbank obtained a profit of half a billion lei.
The podium is completed by Mobiasbanca, which has revenues of just over 300 million lei.
ProCredit Bank registered the highest profit growth. Compared to 2017, the financial institution has doubled its revenues, which reached 74 million lei. At the same time, FinComBank and Comerţbank increased their earnings by almost 50% and 21%, respectively.
2018 did not bring revenue for all banks. Minus was Eximbank, which reported losses of over 90 million lei. BCR Chisinau reduced its profit to 2017 by more than 16 percent, and Victoriabank, taken over by Transylvania Bank last year, collected almost 170 million lei, 40 percent less than in 2017.
