Begins admission period for medical residency. Those pursuing Legal and Forensic Medicine will even score a job
Begins admission for medical residency for students. This year the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu", offered over 500 residencies, most of which have tuition covered.
Those who wish to apply have to provide their diploma, medical licence and CV.
417 places are offered at the Faculty of Internal medicine. Preventive medicine offered 36 residencies, all with covered tuition. Dental Medicine has 35 places, while Pharmaceutics 15, but those are don't have scholarships.
On the halls of University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu", we met Serghei Vladov who dreams of becoming a surgeon. The young man claims that he is ready to work anywhere, as long as he will be able to save lives.
"After a full summer rest, it was rather difficult to gather all the necessary documents. Once the decisions are made, we will go and work where we have the best offer in Moldova" student, Serghei Vladov stated.
While Constantin Potîrnache chose to become a Pediatrician, since he believe to have more chances there.
"I love children. Pediatrics also doesn't have much competition. I'm from Orhei and if they offer me a work place in Orhei I will go, otherwise we will see" student, Constantin Potîrniche stated.
While those going for Internal Medicine have all their tuition covered, those pursuing Dental Medicine will have to pay 20.000 lei per year.
"I hope my marks are good enough to get a place at the Dental Medicine Faculty, but then again all of us hope that. Unfortunately there are no governmental scholarships this year, but what can we do? We have to continue our studies" student, Djulieta Vozian said.
This year, those who decided to study Legal and Forensic Medicine, will even end up scoring a job, as medical institutions are searching for 5 specialists.
"Those jobs are specially saved for the medical institutions, who seek to officially hire the students after their residency is finished" secretary of administration committee, Vladislav Badan stated.
One of the institutions which seeks to meet its new residents is the Emergency Hospital from the Capital. According to the doctors, many departments here lack employees.
"We cannot wait to meet the new residents, especially those pursuing trauma surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, the only one from our whole country, neurosurgery, neurology, basically every department we posses" chief of ER Department, Igor Curov declared.
The admission period will last until 13th September.
