Berries appeared on the markets from Moldova. How much does a kilogram costs
Recent generous temperatures caused the berries to become ripe two weeks earlier. Those are already sold on the markets, but not everyone can afford them.
Irina Pompuş from Teleşeu village, Orhei, grows various types of berries on 1.5 hectares of land.
"They are very rich in magnesium, anthocyanins and antioxidants, which prevent aging and strengthens the immunity, it is very useful for children to eat," Irina Pompus said.
The fruits are not only rich in vitamins and minerals. Their leaves can also be used to make tea.
"They are tasty and ecologic. You can prepare from them jam and kompot"
"At the start the price is 70-80 lei, later, when more harvest will be collected it will drop to 35 lei."
The prices though, do not attract many people.
"I love berries, but now they are too expensive, I will rather wait."
Since the beginning of the year, three tonnes of berries were exported to Russia. Last year, to this country were exported 34 tonnes.
