Better harvest this year. Over 460 thousand tones of grapes to be produced this year
The wine companies and the households will have a better harvest on strawberry this year, up to 460 thousand tones, which is 12 times more than the previous year. 290 thousand tones will be used for wine. Also, over 40 thousand tones of Isabella grapes will be picked up from vineyard.
The specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture estimated the costs of the grapes.
"We think that a kilo of European grapes should cost 4,5 lei. Such sorts as Isabella 2,75 lei. The ones who want to produce wines with a geographical indication will pay 20% more", said Lilia Dascaliuc, the chief of the direction of politics and reglementations within the winery sphere.
The grapes manufactures say that the prices are too low, as this year they paid up to 37 thousand lei for one ha of vineyard.
"The problems of the viticulturist were mentioned in press", said Arcadie Fosnea, the president of Codru IGP.
According some vineyard administrators, in 2017, some sorts of grapes costed up to eight lei for one kilo.
"Wines produced from native grapes, such as royal feteasca, black feteasca, and the dark rhyme continue to be successful. The varieties are well-known to wine consumers such as cabernet or red wine and chardone vignon. This year we expect to process around 800 tons of grapes from farmers in the area", said Ludmila Gogu, the director of Orhei vinery.
According to the statistics, in Moldova there are 130 thousand ha of vineyard.
