Blood donation day in Moldova
Blood means life, and donation means hope. This slogan has made hundreds of Moldovans to go and donate blood today.
Serghei Harcenko from Chişinău has been donating blood for ten years. Being recognized as a donor emeritus, the man has been presented precious gifts.
"I made the first donation when my sister-in-law was to give birth. Blood was needed when my wife gave birth. Thus, donating blood has become customary. I do this once in two months, and I feel no discomfort. I know it’s good for health,” he says.
Many take pleasure in donating blood. They know they can save lives.
Blood collecting centers have been opened in Chisinau, Bălţi and Cahul. Annually, about 130.000 Moldovans need blood transfusion.
