Border incidents over the past week
Between 12 February – 18 February 2018 the following illegal acts were registered at borders:
- 43 people attempted to illegally cross the border;
- 1 person illegally crossed the border;
- 12 forged documents were detected at the border;
- 5 drivers documented for illegal movement of goods and people;
- 17 foreign citizens have overstayed in Republic of Moldova;
- 4 attempts of smuggling;
- 2 driver breached the traffic law;
As a result, 55 cases were opened, where a total of 30 950 lei were applied as fines, out of which 12 925 lei were already cashed in.
During last week, 46 foreign citizens, as well as 62 vehicles were refused entry into Republic of Moldova. At the same time, 11 citizens of Moldova were refused entrance into Russia, another 1 into European Union. Also, 1 citizen of Moldova was deported to EU.
At the same time, 298 986 people have crossed the border, among whom 151 832 have left Republic of Moldova. The number of vehicles that crossed the borders amounts to 77 105, most having foreign registration plates - 39 486 vehicles.
Most popular crossing points were:
Leușeni – 48 161 people crossed the border,
Otaci – 38 589 people crossed the border,
Chisinau International Airport - 38 077 people crossed the border,
Sculeni – 38 730 people crossed the border,
Giurgiulești-Galați - 24 436 people crossed the border,
Criva – 17 257 people crossed the border.
