Border incidents over the past week
Between March 19 – 25 2018 the following illegal acts were registered at borders:
- 43 people attempted to illegally cross the border;
- 8 people attempted to cross using forged documents;
- 10 drivers documented for illegal movement of goods and people;
- 16 foreign citizens have overstayed in Republic of Moldova;
- 2 attempts of smuggling;
As a result, 70 cases were opened, where a total of 34 650 lei were applied as fines, out of which 15 525 lei were already cashed in.
During last week, 45 foreign citizens, as well as 50 vehicles were refused entry into Republic of Moldova. 3 citizens of Moldova were refused entry to Russia, while another 2 citizens of Moldova were refused entrance into European Union. Two Moldovans were deported from Russia.
At the same time, 271 524 people have crossed the border, among whom 136 900 came to Republic of Moldova. The number of vehicles that crossed the borders amounts to 67 844, most having foreign registration plates - 35 055 vehicles.

Leușeni – 44 624 people crossed the border,
Otaci – 39 161 people crossed the border,
Chisinau International Airport - 38 111 people crossed the border,
Sculeni – 30 651 people crossed the border,
Giurgiulești-Galați - 20 755 people crossed the border,
Criva – 14 812 people crossed the border,
Cahul – 12 457 people crossed the border,
Palanca – 7 929 people crossed the border,
Costești - 10 498 people crossed the border.
