Bribery at Institute of Mother and the Child. Over 1,2 million lei found on Nicolae Doni's bank account
The anti-corruption prosecutors investigated the doctors of the Institute of Mother and the Child. Yesterday, they seized approximately one million and a half lei within a file. The biggest sum was possessed by Nicolae Doni, the head of radiology section.
The doctor kept the money on a bank account. Nicolae Doni and an employee were detained within Tomofraf 2 file. Other two doctors were heard by NAC. The four were asking for money from the patients.
-Are you guilty?
(Doni) -No!
-What should the officers find within the investigation?
-(Doni) -Nothing.
Doni's lawyer refused to talk with the journalists.
-He is not declared to be guilty yet and I don't want to talk with the press.
-What did you find there?
-We don't want to talk.
NAC published some images to show how did they seized the money. For medical investigations made without prior appointment, doctors would charge fees from 200 to 500 lei per patient, with 30 to 40 children being examined daily. The hospital administration says they will cooperate with NAC.
"NAC informed us that they started to investigate the Radiology section. The administration cooperates with them and we will inform you about the results", said Sergiu Gladun, IMC director.
The doctors within the Radiology section say that they didn't know about the searches.
-I don't know anything, sorry.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that they started to investigate IMC three days after they investigated the Center of Medical Check Up. Within this one, seven doctors were detained, among whom Silviu Condrea, the chief of Tomography section.
