Business Associations request state support to alleviate negative impact during coronavirus quarantine
Representatives of the Small and Medium Enterprises are worried that business will be seriously affected in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic. Four business associations and over 100 SMEs have signed a petition to ask support from the authorities.
"The biggest concerns are the wage payment, payroll taxes and VAT payment. We propose to be given an extension on the payments", said the executive director of the Alliance of Small and Medium Enterprises of Moldova, Liliana Busuioc.
The petitioners want the state to get more involved to alleviate the negative economic impact caused by the quarantine.
"We would like support for paying the salaries of the employees who are on forced leave, because of quarantine. Another solution would be to use the state social contributions, due by the employers to pay these compensations," said the president of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Moldova, Angela Gladei.
President Igor Dodon promised that the authorities will come up with solutions.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that support measures will be analyzed for the economic agents that had to stop the activity due to the epidemic.
