CEC approved number of ballots for Diaspora
Central Election Commission approved the number of ballots for the Moldovans who live abroad. This time, the number is double, in comparison with the presidential election from 2016. Totally, 1 million 981 thousands 200 ballots will be printed for the parliamentary elections and the referendum on February 24.
According to CEC, the number was established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Election Councils of the three constituencies.
"It is necessary to start the procedure of printing the ballots earlier, as the Electoral Code stipulates, in order to respect the competences of the Central Electoral Commission, as well: they will be able to exercise their right to vote in one of the 125 polling stations open", said Alina Russu, CEC president.
According to the Government's decision, 125 polling stations will be opened for the diaspora, with 25 more votes than the previous elections. 42 of these will be within diplomatic missions. At these elections, about 625,000 Moldovans from the diaspora are expected to vote.
On February 24, four voter ballots will be proposed to voters: for the national constituency, the uninominal one, but also two ballots for the questions of the referendum. Moldovans will be asked if they agree to reduce the number of deputies from 101 to 61, but also if they want to dismiss the people who do not fulfill their commitments.
