CEC decides: Electoral lists will be updated weekly in order to avoid speculations
The Ministry of Informational Technology and the Registry Service will present weekly reports regarding the updating of data on the number of citizens included in the Electors’ Registry. A decision in this regard was taken yesterday, 13 September 2016, by the Central Election Commission in order to avoid the speculations of some nominees for the position of president.
“To have meeting, if not daily, at least once a week, on Monday morning, in order to know what has been updated, which is the data base, the dynamics of this data base. The entire nation is in alert. We need more efficient and specific organizational measures regarding this painful subject, the quality of electoral lists” declared Vladimir Sarban, CEC member.
CEC established that in the period of the electoral campaign, each nominee can spend at most 66 million lei. At the same time, the nominees will have the right to access a flat credit, of up to 30 thousand lei.
According to a decision approved by the electoral authority, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will have to ensure the security of all participants to the voting process in the day of elections, including the nominees. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will offer assistance for the organization of the presidential elections abroad and will secure the ballot papers. And the Ministry of Informational Technology will have the responsibility to ensure the timely issuance of the documents requested by citizens in the elections day.
Also during the Tuesday meeting, the CEC members have registered the second candidate in the presidential race. He is the liberal Mihai Ghimpu, who will be second in the ballot paper.
