Centers assisting abused children to be set up next year in Moldova
Three centers helping children in risky situations will appear in Moldova next year. The investments are made as part of the strategy on developing the minors protection services and preventing abusive situations.
The document has been approved by the Social Protection Ministry, after it had been worked out by international experts and NGOs.
These specialized centers are deemed to support boarding schools. They will provide a wide range of services: from counseling potential violence victims to the psychological rehabilitation of the abused infants.
"The support and rehabilitation services will cover the needs nation-wide. The regional centers will serve by 4-5 districts," said Labor Minister Stela Grigoraş.
ONG representatives hope the policies carried out by the authorities will contribute to prevent cases of abuse.
The centers will be set up with the support of European development partners.
According to a report by the Education Ministry, 7,000 cases of violence against children were registered in Moldova in 2015.
