Changes in Election Code will be examined by Venice Commission members
The changes that will be done in the Election Code, for the organization of presidential elections of this autumn, will be examined today by the members of the Venice Commission.
At the meeting will be present the delegation of Moldova, led by the democrat Sergiu Sirbu.
Previously, Sirbu expressed his conviction that straight after the experts of the Venice Commission will approve the document, the draft regarding the changes of the elections law will be adopted by the Parliament in two weeks utmost.
The presidential elections will take place on October 30. For the organization of the presidential elections the state budget will give the amount of 100 million lei.
In March 2016, the constitutional court has decided that the president of the country has to be elected directly by the people.
According to magistrates, the current president election procedure is a non-constitutional one.
