Chiril Gaburici discussed with ZEL administrators: Free Economic Zones are an advantage for the countries

Chiril Gaburici had a dialogue with the administrators of the Free Economic Zones. In this context, the Minister said that the Free Economic Zones are a competitive advantage for us in the relationships with other countries. That is why, we have to make efforts to double the production volume, turnover and number of jobs, but also to provide the optimal conditions for investors, the necessary infrastructure.
The CEOs of the ZELs informed Chiril Gaburici about the activity of the residents, the production areas, the volume of investments and the difficulties they encounter in the management sector.
Minister Chiril Gaburici urged administrators to communicate more effectively about the experience, the successes and the problems they are facing.
"The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is open to provide the necessary support to facilitate your work, we need to reduce the bureaucracy and identify new opportunities for business development. In this order, we have reduced the number of permissive acts and optimized the number of control institutions", said Chiril Gaburici.
There are seven Free Economic Zones in the Republic of Moldova, employing about 190 residents, who created over 12 thousand jobs. From the beginning of the activity until January 1, 2018, the ZELs registered an investment volume of over 400 million USD and the volume of net sales of industrial production for 2017 is about 6 billion lei.
ZEL's activity focuses on the production of electronic and electric cables and wires (automotive), metal processing and equipment manufacturing, furniture manufacturing, carpet manufacturing, synthetic yarn and wool production, footwear manufacturing, wine production, information technology, etc.
Among the facilities offered by the Free Economic Zones to the activity of economic agents is the exemption of 50% of the tax rate established in our country for the income obtained from the export of goods (services) originating from the free economic zone outside the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the exemption for 3 years from the payment of the tax on income from the export of goods (services) originating from the ZEL outside the territory of the country as a result of investing in the free zone of at least USD 1 million, the zero rate of VAT for the goods (services) delivered to the free zone outside The goods (services) delivered from the free zone outside the Republic of Moldova, the goods (services) delivered to the free zone from the rest of the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the goods (services) delivered by the residents of different free zones of the Republic of Moldova to each other, etc.
