The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Belavtodor holding company. The Memorandum of Agreement is the first step of establishing contractual relations between the parties for the rehabilitation of national road sections.

According to the minister, Chiril Gaburici, the Republic of Moldova is interested in developing and diversifying the financing projects for the rehabilitation, modernization and extension of the national road network in order to improve the traffic conditions and safety, as well as the development of the economy of the republic as a whole.

"A month and a half has passed since our last meeting where we discussed important issues related to the development of mutual cooperation and the implementation of road infrastructure development projects. At the meeting we also invited Belavtodor to participate in the development of national road infrastructure, given the rich experience of Belarusian partners in the construction of roads and bridges. "And now we are here, and this is just the beginning of our common cooperation, and I thank everyone for their work on drafting the Memorandum", said Chiril Gaburici.

The portions of roads to be restored are as follows:

- M1: "Romania - Leuseni - Chisinau - Dubasari border" - km 94 - km 103. This section is an existing road (part of the bypass of Chisinau) with two lanes; according to the project, it is planned to expand to four bands and build three new intersections at different levels. 

- M3: Bypass Vulcanesti. The project envisages the construction of a new road to ensure unimpeded traffic in the direction of Chisinau-Giurgiulesti and is the last section in this direction.

- Elaboration of the technical and economic justification and of the technical project for the rehabilitation of the section of the M1 road from Chisinau to Leuseni. This section of the road is part of the Trans-European Transport Network and is one of the main Western routes connecting the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.

In turn, Belavtodor's general manager, Iurii Masiuk, reiterated his willingness and willingness to implement joint projects for the rehabilitation and construction of roads and road infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova, such as the possibility of developing the Trans-European Transport Network. "I want these joint projects that we have set to bring new opportunities for the citizens of both countries. Because infrastructure means growth and growth", said Iurii Masiuk.

Program funding is provided through a loan from the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus. The cost of the contracts, the amount and terms of the loan will be determined as a result of the technical and financial negotiations.
