Chisinau dancers gather at fête dedicated to International Choreography Day
Dozens of children accompanied by parents have gathered and celebrated International Dance Day on Saturday in Ginta Latina Culture and Art Center.
On the stage there were 19 artists groups who danced various genres such as modern dance, street dance even hip-hop.
Traditional folk music debuted the event. Children who had practiced dancing since they were smaller were really nervous and anxious.
"We prepared this dance for long. I feel so proud and glad to make my dream come true", said a child.
"This's not my first time though, I still feel worried that some mistakes might appear. Anyway, I hope everything'll be alright", said another child.
Their parents always stand by and support them.
"I feel so proud that my child is participating this event", said a parent.
A group from Căuşeni also took part in this event.
This's one of the most important concerts for us as we can see our efforts pay off. This event's dedicated to International Dance Day which is our professional holiday", said dance professor Svetlana Goncearova.
The event was organized with the support of the Culture Department in partnership with the Union of Musicians.
"The International Choreography Day is celebrated all over the world. We have so many dancers in Chisinau that we can't avoid this holiday and deny any chances for them to perform on stage", said Stela Mitriuc, Interim chief of the Chisinau City Hall Culture Directorate.
International Dance Day is a global celebration of dance, created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The event takes place every year on 29th April, the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre, the creator of modern ballet.
