Chisinau ZOO is being repaired. Workers rehabilitate the stairs and pavements
For the first time in the past 15 years, Chisinau ZOO is repaired. Workers are rehabilitating the entrance stairs and all the pavements, as well as the animals' cages.
The works begun four days ago, employees having managed to rehabilitate seven thousand square meters of pavement.
ZOO staff have also implicated, having planted flowers.
"-How many employees planted flowers? -Around 15 people. We do not avoid working, we do what we can" administrator of Chisinau ZOO, Olga Iuzbac said.
"-We plant flowers. -Were you not supposed to stay home? -Of course not. Everybody came to work to make the ZOO more beautiful" Lilia Brăguţă said.
Among the volunteers counted not only staff members, but an artist as well. Eduard Stahi offered to repaint the pictures from the entrance for free.
"I am an amateur painter and try my best to help the city be more beautiful."
Some animals will be able to enjoy life in better conditions by the end of the week. Six cages from the existing 30 will be renovated. The rest will only be repainted.
Despite managing to cover only a little over 50% of the total amount of work, the institution's director assures that the ZOO will open up again next Monday.
"If there is a set aim we will manage it. We will work non-stop on the weekend" director of Chisinau ZOO, Alexandru Hanţaţuc said.
The administration also plans to extend the institution in the near future on another 14 hectares.
After works will be finished, the administration promises to bring in some exotic animals. The project is worth 5 million Euro and foresees purchase of giraffes, as well as other exotic animals. A children playground will also be built.
