A 29-year-old man from Bălţi has been taken into custody by police on suspicion of having stolen gold jewelries and 50 000 lei from Saint Trinity church from Grătieşti commune.

In order to escape the law enforcement the man has run and hid in Transnistria.

During questioning the suspect has fully admitted his fault. Now he is investigated for theft. 

If found guilty the man risks an up to 27 000 lei fine, unpaid community service, or up to 4 years of jail time.
