Citizens feel safer. More police officers can be spotted patrolling streets
Police officers were called in to solve over 20 public order offences in yards of various apartment blocks from Chisinau. According to the Police Inspectorate, officers could be spotted in hard accessible places or those that lacked street light, after the institution decided to increase citizen's security measures.
"- 9712 at duty! - 9712 dispatch to Lev Tkacinski, 6/2. Suspicious people were reported. -Copy that, 6/2- suspicious people."
This team went to investigate a call on suspicion of public order offence.
After arriving at site, officers have not found anything.
"- Patrol officers. Have you noticed a group of suspicious people nearby? -No. -Do you live nearby? - A bit further up the road. -Any complaints of disturbance? - No, none. -Thank you, have a nice evening. - Thank you for your hard work."
The operation was, of course, reported to the dispatcher.
"-Lev Tcacinschi 6/2, checked. Everything is clear, no suspicious individuals spotted. -Anything else 9712? -There is no light near the block."
According to the deputy chief of General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc citizen's security is a priority for police officers.
"Our officers are and will always be present in hard accessible places and those that lack street light, to help children and elders. So that when seeing police officers, people will feel all the time: in morning, noon and evening" Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said.
Leader of Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc, has earlier declared that drivers will only be pulled over in case of breaching traffic law.
According to Plahotniuc, the reform from a few year ago, hundreds of police officers, whose sole duty was to patrol and ensure public order, have decided to promote themselves to traffic officers.
