CITIZENSHIP THROUGH INVESTMENTS. A foreign businessman is a Moldovan citizen today
According to representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the first foreigner who has acquired citizenship through investment is a businessman.
He expressed his interest in obtaining a Moldovan passport in order to expand his business opportunities with the countries with which the Republic of Moldova has concluded free trade agreements. At the same time, he is interested in developing business in our country, thanks to the existing opportunities.
According to the Program approved by the Government, persons from other countries who want to obtain citizenship of the Republic of Moldova must transfer at least one hundred thousand euros to the Public Investment Fund.
If she wants citizenship for her husband or wife, add up to 15,000 euros. In the case of a family composed of five or more persons, including the principal claimant, only the equivalent of 155,000 euros is paid for the whole family.
But there is also an alternative. Foreigners can open their own businesses in Moldova. For this, however, the investment should not be less than 250 thousand euros.
Those who request the citizenship of our country are rigorously checked if they have an impeccable economic and financial reputation.
They are also not allowed to have a criminal record. Initially, they will be audited by several international financial institutions, and then by Interpol, SIS, MAI and NAC.
The authorities have proposed that through the program the volume of investments exceeds more than one billion euros in the next five years.
Similar programs are implemented in several countries including Spain, Portugal, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Cyprus and Canada.
