Three smuggle attempts were stopped over the past 24 hours, officers having seized a total of 11 640 cigarettes.

The first case was registered yesterday, at Giurgiulești Customs, after a K9 signaled the presence of suspicious objects located in the floor and tire of a vehicle, driven by a Moldovan. After searches, Customs officers have discovered 5 000 cigarettes.

Also in Giurgiulești, a few minutes after the first case, the K9 notified officers of another 1 040 cigarettes hidden in another vehicle.  

Another 5 600 cigarettes were discovered at Chisinau International Airport, last evening, in a hand luggage. The goods belonged to a Moldovan flying Chisinau - London.

The items were seized, while the suspects risk a fine to 4 500 lei.
